Christine Cruz Guiao is a Brooklyn-born, Northwest-grown Pinay mystic artist and healer, whose relentless pursuit of her Beloved has guided her to hitchhiking on a desolate and frozen BC highway, on a solo pilgrimage to the holy sites of the Philippines, India, Bhutan, and Nepal; and to the deathbed of her beloved Teacher and mother, Gilda Cruz. Born into the mystical Catholic tradition of her Philippine ancestors, she has also studied for over 15 years with esteemed teachers of Tibetan Buddhism, yoga, and the Earth-based spiritualities of the Coast Salish, Aleut and Native Hawaiian people. Her Teachers have all independently encouraged her towards her destiny as a spiritual healer. Christine finds God/dess everywhere in the world, but most clearly in a full moon walk on the beach, and in the eyes and arms of her beloved family and friends.
Christine is also veteran of the social justice non-profit world and is a gifted community builder. She currently works with both individuals and organizations in aligning their work with their deepest values, bringing the lens of healing justice to her individual healing and organizational development consulting. She has co-founded and directed the unique nonprofit Zenyu, and for many years has held meditation and Sound Healing workshops at organizations such as Seattle University, Shoreline Community College, Filipino Community Center of Seattle, and YouthSource, a program for previously-incarcerated youth. During her time at Zenyu, she offered one-on-one customized coaching for leaders and frontline staff of many of Seattle's grassroots organizations. She has over 20 years experience in working for numerous social justice and environmental nonprofit organizations including most recently the Tao Foundation for Culture and Arts and Earth Economics, providing leadership development and capacity building. She has joyfully explored wildernesses around the world, including Alaska, the Canadian Rockies, the Amazon, the Himalayas, and the North Cascades of her own backyard, and draws on the healing power of Nature to guide and inspire her work. She holds an MBA in Nonprofit Management and an MA in Sustainable International Development from Brandeis University.
